{ The long story }

Thank you for asking for the long story when it comes to hanging art 😂! I thought for those of you who would like to sit and have a read these are a few tips that I follow , I hope this helps you too.

* Every wall is a blank canvas - consider the importance of these areas and if they would be more interesting with a piece or collection of art on them.
Consider the space between them, I personally prefer a smaller space between art works - working roughly on 10 to 15 cm apart.

* Identify your focal point within a room and decide if you can hang an art work opposite to create visual balance.

* The middle of the art piece should be at your eye level. If your partner is taller than yourself ,this may mean a comprise between the two.

* A large piece I would hang dead centre of the space you have decided upon.

* A group can be staggered

* A gallery wall can have pieces above and below your eye lines

* Art work positioned above a sofa.My rule of thumb is Aprox 30 / 40 cm but please consider your head, you don’t want to hit it on the piece of art ! if so adjust height accordingly.

* You don’t want to line all art work up with door and window frames ,yes in some cases you can but not for all art work as your eye needs to move up and down - this creates interest and leads your eye around the room. Art works can be hung above door height if the walls are tall enough to draw your eye up towards your ceiling ,this works particularly well in rooms with high ceilings with exposed beams.

* Consider sight lines and where a picture is positioned. For example , Looking down a long passage ,create a focal point if there isn’t one.

* Scale of the piece in proportion to the wall

* style - consider your framing. Busy walls often require a simple frame and adverse to that clean walls can have more ornate frames.

2023 has been a rewarding and fulfilling year ,working on beautiful new homes with amazing people.

I am truly grateful 🤗

We have a month of trade left before we close for our Christmas holidays. We look forward to completing our last projects before our closure on the 14th .

Nom de Plume studio is open Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm .
