Tuludi Safari Camp
Tuludi is a beautiful exclusive safari camp situated in the Khwai private reserve on the Okavango Delta Botswana.
The camp is perched in the majestic trees namely the Apple-leaf, Leadwood and Combretum trees overlooking the open Savannah grasses and water where the bird and animal life is abundant.
These Fauna and Flora that surround Tuludi were then the inspiration and created the backdrop for the perfect setting. Allowing the interiors to link from the outdoors. The camp itself is open and encourages the African bush in, which allows oneself to immerse into the beautiful surroundings. I set about creating interior spaces that could be interactive or quiet and secluded depending on the nature of each individual, enjoying the space uniquely.
The lodge is divided into separate entertainment areas being the poolside deck, the lounge and main bar, dining and verandah with a surprise treetop library and lookout viewpoint from above with a slide that takes you down should you wish, then exclusive bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, plunge pool and deck.
Given the vastness of the surroundings I wanted the interiors to be bold making a statement, therefore I used the concept of ” less is more” having bigger, unique hand-crafted artisan furniture pieces that I designed and developed myself, with craftsmen that executed the pieces. This can be seen in the examples of the over-sized swing chairs which are on the deck of every room as well as on the main panorama deck, these allow one to enjoy a book or simply take in the view whilst lounging. Another example is the magnificent curved mosaic bar. This is a unique bar that gives you a visual story of the beautiful colourful animals and birds that can be found in this region and it was these colours, especially those found on the gorgeous malachite kingfisher that gave rise to the bright colours that weave their thread through the lodge. The outdoor woven individual nest chairs were designed to replicate birds. All these little features come together to create a unique Tuludi experience. The library was an area that pulled African chic together using more natural masculine colours and became a beautiful quiet space perched in the trees.
The bedrooms are a spacious and tranquil private space where you can relax in your own time and take in the surroundings from your lavish bed with its soft bamboo linen, expansive mosquito net and kiaat wood ceiling fan which all add to your comfort. All the rooms have original framed artworks which link the smaller creatures found in the bush such as the dung beetles & hornbills being synonymous to the area.
Tuludi with its pops of bright colour in the interiors, gives the space a contemporary African feel creating a unique experience during your stay in the Botswana African bush.
